Bank statement to OFX — questions
Is converting bank statements to Xero free?+
Yes — the free tier converts up to 25 pages a month with no credit card. Larger volumes are covered by the Pro and Business plans, which you can cancel any time.
Does it work on scanned or photographed statements?+
Yes — that's the point. Upload a scan or a phone photo and the AI reads it, not just clean digital PDFs. Then export to Xero.
Which banks are supported?+
Any bank. We read statements with vision AI instead of per-bank templates, so it works on virtually any institution in most countries.
How do I use the Xero file?+
In Xero: open the bank account → Manage Account → Import a Statement, then upload the .ofx file.
Is my financial data safe?+
Your file is processed in memory to extract the transactions and then deleted immediately. We never store your statements.
What is an OFX file?+
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is a standard file format for bank transactions. Accounting and budgeting tools import it as a bank statement, so the transactions arrive ready to reconcile instead of being typed in.
OFX, QBO or QFX — which do I need?+
All three are OFX underneath. Use OFX for Xero, MYOB and most other tools, QBO for QuickBooks, and QFX for Quicken. StatementFlow exports OFX and QBO from the same statement.
My bank only gives me a PDF. Can I still get an OFX?+
Yes — that's what this converter is for. Upload the PDF (or a scan or photo of it) and export OFX; there's no need for the bank to offer OFX downloads itself.
