Bank statement to QBO — questions

Is converting bank statements to QuickBooks free?+

Yes — the free tier converts up to 10 pages a month with no credit card. Larger volumes are covered by the Pro and Business plans, and credits never expire.

Does it work on scanned or photographed statements?+

Yes — that's the point. Upload a scan or a phone photo and the AI reads it, not just clean digital PDFs. Then export to QuickBooks.

Which banks are supported?+

Any bank. We read statements with vision AI instead of per-bank templates, so it works on virtually any institution in most countries.

How do I use the QuickBooks file?+

In QuickBooks: Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload from file, then choose the .qbo file. QuickBooks matches it to the right account.

Is my financial data safe?+

Your file is processed in memory to extract the transactions and then deleted immediately. We never store your statements.

What is a QBO file?+

A .qbo file is Intuit's Web Connect format — an OFX-based file describing a bank account and its transactions. QuickBooks treats it like a direct feed from your bank, so transactions land ready to categorise instead of being typed in.

What's the difference between QBO, QFX, and OFX?+

All three descend from OFX. QBO (Web Connect) is what QuickBooks imports, QFX is Quicken's equivalent, and plain OFX is what Xero and most other tools accept. Export QBO for QuickBooks and OFX for Xero — StatementFlow produces both from the same statement.

Will QuickBooks Desktop accept the QBO file?+

Yes. The file is written as OFX/SGML 1.0.2 with an institution ID (INTU.BID), which is what QuickBooks Desktop checks before accepting a Web Connect import. Use File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files.
