  2. Step 2Drop the file below and check the columns and date format.
  3. Step 3Download the .qbo file and import it.

No CSV to hand?

Only have a PDF statement? Convert the PDF directly and StatementFlow reads it, checks every running balance and gives you the QBO file.

Import the .qbo file into QuickBooks

  1. QuickBooks Online: go to Accounting → Bank transactions (All apps → Accounting in the newer layout), choose Link account → Upload from file, and pick the .qbo file.
  2. Choose the QuickBooks account the transactions belong to, then review them in the For review tab.
  3. QuickBooks Desktop: File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files, select the .qbo file and choose the account.

Why .qbo instead of CSV?

  • No column mapping inside QuickBooks: dates, amounts and descriptions are already in the right fields.
  • Every transaction gets a stable ID, so importing the same file twice is caught as duplicates.
  • QuickBooks Online limits CSV uploads to 350 KB and 1,000 lines; a .qbo file avoids the CSV format rules.

CSV files it understands

  • One signed Amount column, or separate Money in / Money out (Debit / Credit) columns.
  • Day-first, month-first and year-first dates, including "01 Sep 2026" and "Sep 1, 2026".
  • Comma, semicolon or tab separators; decimal points or decimal commas; (30.00) and 30.00 DR for money out.
  • Account details or totals above and below the transactions. Rows it can't read are listed, never silently dropped.

Questions

CSV to QBO questions

Straight answers. Still stuck? Contact us.

Is this CSV to QBO converter really free?
Yes. There's no account, no trial and no row limit; files up to 5 MB work. It costs us nothing to run because the conversion happens in your browser.
Is my bank data uploaded anywhere?
No. The CSV is read and converted by your browser and the .qbo file is created on your computer. Nothing is sent to StatementFlow or anyone else.
QuickBooks shows a different bank name during import. Is that a problem?
No. A .qbo file must carry a bank ID that QuickBooks recognises, and this tool uses a widely accepted default. You choose the QuickBooks account yourself, so the transactions land in the right place.
Will importing the same file twice create duplicates?
QuickBooks flags them. Each transaction's ID is built from its date, amount and description, so the same row always gets the same ID.
Can I convert a credit card CSV?
Yes. Choose Credit card as the account type. If your card export shows purchases as positive numbers, tick Flip signs so they import as charges.
My bank only gives me a PDF statement.
Use StatementFlow's PDF converter. It reads PDF, scanned and photographed statements, checks every running balance and downloads a .qbo file directly.
