How do I import a bank statement into Tally Prime?
Convert your PDF statement and choose Export → Tally to get a Tally XML file, then in TallyPrime go to Gateway of Tally → Import → Vouchers and select it — every transaction posts as a Receipt or Payment voucher automatically.
TallyPrime brings bank transactions in as accounting vouchers through its XML import, so the job is to turn your statement into that XML. Upload your PDF, scan, or phone photo to StatementFlow, review the extracted table, and choose Export → Tally to download a Tally XML file.
Then import it: in TallyPrime press Alt+O (or go to Gateway of Tally → Import → Vouchers), pick XML as the file type, and select the downloaded file. TallyPrime posts every line for you — a deposit becomes a Receipt voucher and a withdrawal becomes a Payment voucher, each booked against your bank ledger. On Tally.ERP 9 the menu is Gateway of Tally → Import Data → Vouchers instead.
The other side of every voucher lands in Suspense A/c — a built-in Tally ledger — so the import never fails for want of a ledger you haven't created yet. Your one job afterwards is to reclassify those Suspense lines to the correct expense, income, or party ledgers; that's the accounting judgement Tally can't guess, and it's far faster than typing every transaction by hand.
Because each conversion is reconciled against the running balance before you export, the debits and credits you post tie back to the statement. Using a different tool? The same file also imports into QuickBooks and Zoho Books.
